Annual General Meeting Overview

Solva Rowing Club held its 2026 AGM with a strong turnout from members. The meeting covered reflections on the past year, financial updates, election of officers, and plans for the 2026 season.

Highlights from the AGM

1. Approval of 2025 Minutes

The minutes of the 2025 AGM were reviewed and accepted with no amendments.

2. Chairman’s Report

The Chair reported a positive year of local rowing with consistent turnout and well-run events, including the popular Ramsey Race. Thanks were extended to outgoing Secretary Alice Wilson and Safety Officer Julian Whitewright.

3. Treasurer’s Report

Although full accounts will be presented at the next committee meeting, the Treasurer confirmed:

• £6,000 in the main club account
• £2,000 in the 100 Club account

Finances remain in a similar position to last year.

4. Membership

The club recorded 51 members for 2025/26:

• 45 adult members
• 6 junior members

Membership remains healthy, with a focus on improving winter/off-season activity.

5. Election of Officers

6. Membership Fees for 2026/27

To align with Welsh Sea Rowing fees, the AGM approved the following for 2026/27:

• Adult Membership: £60
• Family Membership: £85
• All other categories unchanged

An early-bird discount of £5 applies until 30 April 2026.

7. 100 Club

The 100 Club sold 41 numbers in 2025, generating a £210 prize pot. Each draw offered prizes of £35, £20, and £15.

8. Date of Next AGM

The next AGM will be held on Tuesday 11 March 2027 at 7:30pm.

Post‑AGM Committee Meeting Summary

1. Club Night Change

The committee agreed to trial Wednesday as the new Club Night starting 1 April 2026. Attendance will be reviewed during the season.

2. 2026 Events & Fixtures

Key events planned for the season include:

• Mumbles Regatta
• Dinas Head
• Mermaid
• Five Miles From Home
• Dale Marathon (21 miles)

3. Ramsey Race 2026

The Ramsey Race will take place on Saturday 27 June 2026.
First planning meeting: Tuesday 21 April 2026.

4. Boat Maintenance

Boats are in good condition with only minor work required. A full check will be completed at the first Club Night.

5. RIB Review

The RIB remains operational but requires the battery to be charged. A long-term decision will be made once full accounts are reviewed.

6. Longboat Sponsorship

The club will update its sponsorship materials and seek support from local businesses and members. Boat branding will be refreshed.

7. First Sessions & Rota

The first Club Night of the season will be on Wednesday 1 April 2026.
